Deputy: Political differences are behind the obstruction of the legislation of the oil and gas law

Bassem Ngheimesh, a member of the Oil and Gas Committee, said today, Monday, that there are political issues and disagreements between Baghdad and Erbil about the oil and gas law, implying that political differences hamper legislation of the oil and gas law.

Ngheimesh stated in an interview with the, “The law awaits the understandings of Baghdad and Erbil to legislate the oil and gas law under the dome of the House of Representatives.”

He went on to say, “Passing the oil and gas law in the House of Representatives requires political consensus, which is what is hindering voting on it until now.”

He went on to say that “the law was transferred many times during previous parliamentary sessions and was not included in the current parliamentary laws and legislation.”

Ngemesh went on to say, “The oil and gas law is still a matter of controversy and disagreement among political parties.”
