Deputy: Washington violated the strategic framework agreement, and Parliament is ready to respond in kind

Saturday’s confirmation by Representative Aqeel Al-Fatlawi that Washington had broken the terms of the Strategic Framework Agreement showed that Parliament was prepared to pass a fresh resolution on the foreign presence.

Al-Fatlawi stated in an interview that “Baghdad has a strategic framework agreement with Washington, which it concluded” in 2011, but that “America was constantly violating it.” He added, “Parliament issued an official decision in 2020 to remove American forces from the country and is ready to issue a similar decision at the current time and support the government’s steps in this direction.”

The speaker went on, “From an international standpoint, America has committed a major transgression and a violation of sovereignty regarding Iraq. Parliament is prepared to pass a resolution endorsing the withdrawal of its forces, and the government has the responsibility to move forward with the national option of withdrawing those forces.” He further stated that “it is unacceptable for the presence of forces that violate sovereignty and transgress on…The carnage in Iraq directly jeopardizes peace and security.

He emphasized that “removing the American forces is a national choice that is supported by all national and political forces in the country; it is not possible to go back and do so.”

Numerous PMO offices throughout the west of the nation were hit by American planes, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries.
