Dollar prices are heading to rise again in Iraq at the beginning of 2024 with the influx of “black money orders”

On Wednesday, December 27th, 2023, economic expert Ahmed Al-Tamimi I was predicted that the dollar exchange rates would rise at the beginning of 2024 to finance foreign trade on black markets.

During an interview with “Baghdad Today,” Al-Tamimi stated that the US dollar has recently experienced a significant decrease in exchange rates on black markets. However, he clarified that this decline is temporary and has not approached the official rate approved by the Central Bank.

About the current situation, he stated that it is anticipated for the exchange rate to increase gradually at the start of the new year 2024. This is due to the consistent inflow of illicit remittances for financing a portion of foreign trade on a daily basis. He also noted that the value of the US dollar has already shown a gradual rise.

The exchange rates of the US dollar in Iraq have slightly decreased over the past week, which has left a positive impression on the Iraqi public. This is viewed as a success of the government and the Central Bank’s efforts to control the increase in the dollar exchange rates. The aim is to keep it around 20-25 points above the official price of 132 thousand dinars per 100 dollars.
