The oil finding in the Oasis Al-Rahban region in the lowlands of Al-Najaf province has been declared by Dr. Majid Al-Waeli, the governor of Al-Najaf.
An announcement from the governor’s office stated that the Iraqi Oil Exploration Company and a team of international specialists discovered the finding.
Al-Waeli commanded the establishment of a committee to oversee and keep in constant contact with the Ministry of Oil and the Oil Exploration Company. The committee would be led by Dr. Abdul-Hussein Al-Shubli, the advisor for administrative units and energy matters. The committee’s duties include accelerating the required processes for the oil field and provide logistical support to the exploration team and pertinent ministerial teams.
In order to speed the preparations leading to oil production, the governor stressed the need of direct communication with the Ministry of Oil. He said that this finding will bring about a complete economic and developmental revolution, raising the standard of living and bringing wealth to the people of Najaf.
