Iraq Inaugurates New Oil Terminal at Khor Al-Zubair Port

Iraq’s Ministry of Transport announced the opening a 340-meter-long oil terminal at Khor Al-Zubair port.

The General Company for Iraqi Ports inaugurated a crucial project, which is part of the second phase of the Japanese loan. The Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Futoshi Matsumoto, attended the inauguration ceremony.

According to a statement from the Ministry, this development aims to enhance Iraqi ports’ infrastructure, increase the company’s revenues, and contribute to the state treasury.

During a recent event, Farihan Al-Fartousi, the Director-General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, spoke about the benefits of a new project expected to increase revenue and contribute to the state treasury. The Japanese Ambassador to Iraq, Futoshi Matsumoto, was also said at the event and emphasized the long-standing relationship between Japan and Iraq, highlighting their efforts to strengthen economic and trade relations.

Captain Adel Ali Dushar, the Assistant Director-General of the General Company for Iraqi Ports, highlighted the company’s diligent efforts towards infrastructural development. He mentioned completing two significant projects – the modern and advanced Al-Faw Grand Port and the service dock. The service dock includes an offshore drilling department and maritime lighting facilities, and both projects collectively contribute towards the enhancement of Iraqi ports.
