Most of them are among the oil companies. A parliamentary move to legalize foreign workers

On Sunday, Kazem Al-Touki, a Parliamentary Oil and Gas Committee member, announced a parliamentary initiative to legalize foreign workers in oil companies and fields.

During an interview with [publication name omitted], Al-Touki mentioned that there is a push in parliament to legalize foreign workers in oil companies that operate within Iraq.

He stated that reducing foreign labor by 70% and replacing it with local delivery by 70% and 30% for foreign work would end a significant economic crisis in Iraq.

He emphasized that this step aims to reduce unemployment and create jobs for young people and graduates. He also pointed out that many foreign workers, especially in oil companies, are present in most of Basra and Dhi Qar.

The Parliamentary Committee on Labor and Social Affairs has announced the creation of a committee to improve the conditions of foreign workers in the country. Additionally, the Ministry of Labor’s instructions to register foreign workers’ data will be enforced through penalties of up to 5 million dinars or imprisonment for violators who are employers.
