On Saturday, MP Adnan Al-Jabri made the details of the century-long theft public.
“The theft of tax deposits is a complicated file, and investigations into its details are still ongoing,” Al-Jabri stated. He confirmed that the actual amount stolen is significantly greater than reported.”
“The amount of money stolen during the previous government’s time is large,” he added. “The failure to announce the amount of thefts in the tax deposits file confirms that other thefts are being discovered through investigations,” he said.
“Recovering all stolen funds, revealing the identity of those involved, and taking legal action, noting that corruption is a scourge no less dangerous than terrorism,” he said.
The government’s recent announcement of the “theft of the century,” the recovery of hundreds of billions of dinars stolen from tax trusts, is noteworthy.
