Oil prices register a slight decrease

Oil prices slipped slightly early Tuesday after jumping more than 2% in the previous session, as global markets reacted to rising tensions between Russia and Ukraine and the growing risk to energy supplies.

Brent crude futures for February delivery, which expire today, fell by 21 cents, or 0.3%, reaching $61.73 a barrel by 01:50 GMT. The more active March contract also moved lower, dropping 19 cents, or 0.3%, to trade at $61.30 a barrel.

The small pullback comes after strong gains on Monday, as traders weighed the impact of the ongoing conflict and the possibility of supply disruptions. While prices eased slightly, concerns about global stability and energy security continue to keep markets on edge.
