Parliamentary insistence on legislating investment, oil and gas laws

MP Muhammad Al-Ziyadi, a member of the Economy and Investment Committee, revealed on Wednesday that the committee has started debating changes to the National Investment Law for ratification this semester. This suggests that there is parliamentary pressure to pass the legislation pertaining to oil and gas.

“The National Investment Law is being amended by the Economy and Investment Committee. It is anticipated that these changes will be finished by the end of the week and then submitted to the Council Presidency for approval,” Al-Ziyadi stated.

He went on to say that “the political forces moved to approve the law in response to the Federal Court’s decision regarding the region’s oil.” “Gas and oil.”

Notably, the Federal Supreme Court ordered the Kurdistan Regional Government to provide Baghdad all earnings, both from oil and non-oil sources, during its session last Wednesday.
