This week, Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani presided over a meeting to discuss Al-Faw Grand Port’s progress. Technital, an Italian consulting firm, and Daewoo, a Korean company, were present.
The Top state leader’s Office said he looked into the subtleties of the continuous work on the critical tasks inside the port and their arrangement with the arranged timetable for fulfillment, adding, “this essential undertaking is supposed to make a significant shift for Iraq because of the many ventures connected to it.”
Al-Sudani directed the establishment of a committee that included the Head of the Advisory Commission in the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister’s technical advisor, his transportation advisor, the directors of ports and railways, and representatives from the Ministries of Electricity, Defense, Trade, Construction and Housing, Oil, and Industry. Al-Sudani was also in charge of the committee’s formation. Within a month, this committee will be tasked with providing the final vision for the institutions that will be part of Al-Faw Grand Port.
He emphasized that Iraq’s economic ties to the region should be bolstered, investment opportunities in this strategic project should be increased, and the vision should focus on these goals.
