Ghaith Ali, the media director for the Karbala Refinery, said that after maintenance, the refinery has reached its final stages of operation, and the units will be restored sequentially.
“The operation requires time to complete all units and produce materials in a final manner and at their maximum capacity,” Ali stated to the official newspaper.
According to his explanation, “the shutdown in the refinery is part of a programmed plan for maintenance purposes according to the original approvals and prior coordination with the relevant authorities,” the refinery will be shut down.
Ali said that “inaccurate information and was not obtained from official sources” dispelled all of the rumors that the refinery was shutting down for other reasons.
