The Federal Court obligates the Kurdistan government to hand over all oil revenues and border crossings to Baghdad

The Kurdistan Regional Government was ordered to turn over all oil and non-oil profits to Baghdad by the Federal Supreme Court on Wednesday. This ruling is conclusive and legally enforceable.

During the appeal session about the pay of employees in the Kurdistan Region, Jassim Al-Amiri, the President of the Court, stated, “It was decided to oblige the submission of the monthly budget for the region’s employees to the Federal Ministry of Finance.”

“The court also decided to compel the Council of Ministers in the region to turn over all oil and non-oil revenues to the federal government,” he continued.

The court made the decision to force the governments of Erbil and Baghdad to transfer all retiree and employee payments from the Kurdistan region into government banks.
