Türkiye announces the start of operating the oil pipeline with Iraq this week

Turkish Energy Minister Alp Arslan Bayraktar announced Monday that the oil pipeline connecting Iraq and Turkey will commence operations this week.

After conducting maintenance checks and repairing flood damage, the oil export pipeline from northern Iraq via Turkey will soon resume operations.

Bayrakdar announced that the inspection of the oil pipeline has been completed, and it will be ready for operation soon from a technical standpoint.

“An independent survey company has completed its work, and they are now preparing the report,” he said, without mentioning a date for the resumption of oil flows.

“We need to find an amicable solution as two neighboring countries. However, we must take care of our interests from a legitimate perspective. From a technical standpoint, the pipeline will be ready to operate soon. We are somewhat prepared and will begin the process shortly.”
