According to Iraq’s state-run news agency INA, Bassem Muhammad Khudair, the Undersecretary of Extraction at the Ministry of Oil, has announced that a Ukrainian company will be awarded the contract to develop the Akkas gas field in the next few days.
The name of the company was not mentioned by him.
On Monday, the Ministry of Oil released an official statement regarding the upcoming transfer of the Akkas field development contract from Korea’s Kogas to a foreign company that is qualified by the Petroleum Contracts and Licensing Directorate (PCLD).
It stated that this was a significant move towards the development of the Akkas gas field, which will produce 400 million standard cubic feet of gas per day.
