A deal has been reached between TotalEnergies and French tube manufacturer Vallourec for the provision of casing, tubing, and related accessories for the initial stage of the Gas Growth Integrated Project (GGIP) in Iraq.

The GGIP calls for building a 1GW solar power plant, a saltwater treatment facility, and the recovery of gas that is currently flared in the Basra region to feed power plants. The sustainable development of the nation’s natural resources will be made possible by this multi-energy strategy.

Having supplied TotalEnergies for many years, Vallourec leverages its extensive knowledge in Iraq to give its enduring partner a competitive premium product that meets all of its OCTG requirements.

Using the best steel grades available from its operations in Brazil and Europe, Vallourec will deliver a total of 15,000 tons of VAM® of different tubes and connectors for the project’s first thirty wells. In 2024, deliveries will begin.

Philippe Guillemot, the CEO and chairman of the group, stated (pictured):

We are honored that TotalEnergies has selected us for this important project’s initial phase in Iraq. Our staff is totally dedicated to collaborating with our reliable partner to assist all next stages of this multi-energy project, in addition to the drilling.”
