I think it would be wise to make a controlled REER modification before the trip to Washington. Hormuz’s reopening relieves pressure on oil income, stabilizes reserves, and allows the government to give Washington a more robust and stable economic picture. A REER in the window would appear less like a panicked response to a crisis and more like a calculated move based on strengthened fundamentals.
