German engineering company HORN Glass Industries AG has signed an agreement with Al Rida Investment to build a new float glass manufacturing plant in Iraq’s Najaf province.

The new facility will have a production capacity of 800 tonnes of float glass per day and will be equipped with advanced manufacturing technology aimed at increasing glass production in Iraq and the wider region.

The project’s financing has been arranged in cooperation with Commerzbank and AKA Ausfuhrkredit-Gesellschaft, providing the financial support needed to move the project forward.

According to the project timeline, delivery of the plant’s equipment is scheduled for 2027, while commercial operations are expected to begin in 2028.

Ekaterina Firsova welcomed the agreement and praised the cooperation between HORN Glass Industries, Al Rida Investment, Commerzbank, and AKA Ausfuhrkredit-Gesellschaft.

She said the project represents an important step for Iraq’s industrial sector and is expected to play a significant role in expanding the country’s glass manufacturing capabilities.

The new plant is also expected to support economic development by creating jobs, strengthening local industrial production, and reducing dependence on imported glass products.

The investment reflects growing interest from international companies in Iraq’s industrial sector as the country seeks to expand domestic manufacturing and diversify its economy beyond oil revenues. exchange
