Iraq’s Finance Minister Faleh Sari said Thursday that the ministry is moving forward with financial automation projects and taking steps to put them into practical operation.

According to the Ministry of Finance, Sari met with a World Bank delegation led by Regional Director for the Middle East Dalia Khalifa and the bank’s mission director in Iraq, Emmanuel Salinas. The meeting focused on financial reforms, improving financial management tools, and automation projects being developed by the ministry.

Sari said the automation projects are moving into the implementation stage. He explained that the changes are expected to improve work procedures, make the management of financial resources and data more efficient, and strengthen oversight and transparency across financial institutions.

The minister also highlighted the World Bank’s role in supporting the automation program and providing technical expertise to help develop Iraq’s financial systems. He said cooperation with the bank covers several important areas connected to financial and economic reform.

World Bank representatives welcomed the steps taken by the Ministry of Finance to strengthen Iraq’s financial and banking sector. They also reaffirmed their commitment to continuing cooperation with the ministry to support joint projects and noted the increasing interest of major international companies in the Iraqi market.
