Wyoming adopts Chainlink Proof of Reserve for FRNT

Wyoming has taken another step to make its state-backed stablecoin more transparent by adopting Chainlink’s Proof of Reserve system for FRNT, the state-issued Frontier Stable Token.

The new setup combines independent reserve checks from The Network Firm with Chainlink’s blockchain infrastructure. The Network Firm reviews FRNT’s reserves and token supply using professional accounting standards, while Chainlink publishes the verified data onchain so users can see reserve information more easily and more frequently.

According to Wyoming, the goal is to give users a near real-time view of the stablecoin’s backing instead of relying only on periodic reports.

The state already publishes daily reserve attestations for FRNT, but the new onchain system adds another layer of visibility. It allows applications, investors and market participants to access reserve information directly on supported blockchains.

However, the system does not independently verify cash or Treasury holdings itself. It simply publishes the results of the reserve examinations, meaning its accuracy still depends on the underlying reserve records, the external examiner and the data delivery process.

Wyoming says its daily reporting and onchain verification go beyond the disclosure standards required under the federal GENIUS Act. Under that law, stablecoin issuers are generally required to publish monthly reports showing reserve assets and outstanding token supply, along with an independent examination.

State officials argue that monthly reports only provide a snapshot at a single moment, while daily attestations and onchain verification help close the information gap between reporting dates.

At the same time, Wyoming is preparing to adopt another Chainlink feature called Secure Mint. The feature has not yet gone live for FRNT, but it is designed to prevent new tokens from being created unless verified reserves fully cover the circulating supply.

If reserve coverage falls below the required level, Secure Mint would automatically block additional token issuance until the reserves are restored. Wyoming believes this could reduce the risk of unbacked token creation and strengthen confidence in the stablecoin.

The effectiveness of the system will depend on how it is implemented, including factors such as update frequency, emergency controls and how inaccurate or unavailable reserve data is handled.

FRNT officially launched in January 2026 and is backed by U.S. dollars and short-term U.S. Treasury securities. Revenue generated from those reserves supports Wyoming’s School Foundation Program.

The latest move continues Wyoming’s growing relationship with Chainlink. Earlier this year, the state shifted FRNT’s cross-chain infrastructure to Chainlink’s Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP) after completing a security review.

Today, FRNT operates across eight public blockchains, including Ethereum, Solana, Base, Avalanche, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon and Hedera.

For now, the next major milestone will be the launch of Secure Mint. Wyoming has not provided a date yet, but once activated, the feature is expected to add another safeguard by linking token issuance directly to verified reserves.
