Iraq’s Ministry of Trade took part in a preparatory meeting organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss expanding trade and investment cooperation with the European Union.
The meeting brought together representatives from several Iraqi economic institutions and the EU mission. Discussions focused on ways to strengthen trade and investment relations, support the private sector, improve opportunities for Iraqi products in European markets, and attract more foreign investment into Iraq.
Participants also reviewed proposals aimed at boosting economic cooperation and creating a more favorable environment for business and investment between Iraq and the European Union.
The Ministry of Trade was represented by Riyad Fakher al-Hashimi, Director General of the Department of External Economic Relations, and Malik Khalaf Wadi, Director General of the Department of Private Sector Development.
The meeting is part of ongoing efforts to deepen economic ties with the European Union, increase export opportunities for Iraqi products, and encourage greater international investment in the country’s economy.
