Ali al-Fatlawi, a member of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, said he expects the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) law to be approved by Parliament within the next ten days.
Speaking to dinaropinions.com, Al-Fatlawi said some political groups are trying to use the PMF law as a bargaining tool to push other legislation that serves their own interests.
He explained that certain parties are negotiating with political forces that have brigades within the PMF, seeking support for laws related to issues such as the fate of missing persons, the withdrawal of PMF forces from Jurf al-Nasr, and other outstanding matters.
Al-Fatlawi also claimed that there are external parties putting pressure on Iraq to prevent the PMF law from being passed in Parliament.
He said the government is continuing its efforts to move forward with legislation related to the PMF while also working toward the withdrawal of foreign forces from the country.
According to Al-Fatlawi, discussions are ongoing, and he believes Parliament will complete the vote on the PMF law within the next ten days.
