10/9/2026

Member of Parliament Sherwan Dubardani, from the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc, revealed that Parliament will vote, during its session scheduled for next Monday, on filling the vacant ministerial portfolios and completing the government formation of Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaidi.

Doberdani said that a series of talks between the main political forces and blocs led to an understanding regarding granting confidence to the candidates for the ministries that have not yet been decided within Al-Zidi’s cabinet.

He added that the Kurdistan Democratic Party supports the government of Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, with the aim of maintaining political stability and preventing the disruption of state institutions.

Doberdani pointed to the importance of completing the government formation at the current stage, stressing that the country is going through sensitive economic and financial circumstances that require the government to activate its full capacity to face the challenges and manage the financial file.    LINK

Economic experts to “One News”: The White Paper was not just a plan to save Iraq from the 2020 crisis, but a strategic project that could have saved the country from its current financial crisis.

Economic experts told “One News” that the White Paper for economic reform, launched by the former Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kazemi’s government in 2020, was not just a temporary response to the financial crisis Iraq faced at the time, but represented a comprehensive strategic project to restructure the national economy and address the accumulated imbalances in the management of public resources and expenditures.

The experts explained that Iraq faced one of its most severe financial crises in 2020, due to the collapse of oil prices and a decline in public revenues, which put the government in the face of major challenges in securing salaries and financial commitments, before the following years witnessed a noticeable improvement in the financial situation and an increase in cash reserves.

They pointed out that the Kazemi government’s era witnessed Iraq’s transition from a severe financial crisis to recording large financial profits, with estimates suggesting that the financial surplus could reach around 150 trillion dinars, in addition to the improvement in the Central Bank’s reserves of foreign currency and gold, confirming that the assessment of these results requires taking into account the rise in global oil prices during that period.

Experts noted that the true importance of the white paper was not limited to addressing the current crisis, but rather represented a long-term reform approach, which included diversifying non-oil revenue sources, reducing reliance on oil exports, reforming the banking sector and the financial system, supporting the private sector, and improving the investment environment, in addition to addressing the situations of losing government companies and reforming pension and retirement systems, and enhancing governance and financial management.

They added that the full implementation of these reforms, in conjunction with investing financial surpluses in productive and developmental projects, could enhance Iraq’s ability to face oil price fluctuations, limit the pressures on the general budget, and reduce the need to take financial measures that affect the purchasing power of citizens.

The experts also pointed out that the current economic crisis raises questions about the fate of the reforms guaranteed by the white paper, and the extent to which successive governments are committed to implementing them, especially in terms of restructuring public spending and enhancing non-oil revenues and stimulating productive sectors.

They stressed that Iraq’s large financial resources alone are not enough to achieve economic stability, unless accompanied by sustainable institutional reforms and financial policies capable of transforming oil revenues into long-term growth sources.

Experts concluded that the white paper represented an opportunity to bring about a structural transformation in the Iraqi economy, and that implementing its goals in a comprehensive manner was intended to enhance financial stability and prepare the country to become an economically and investmentally significant center in the region, instead of continuing to face crises with every decline in oil revenues

Stephen  They’re not going to tell us everything. If the revaluation/reinstatement is going to be this massive wealth event for the country of Iraq and anyone that holds their currency, do you think it’s going be out in the open as far as what they’re doing?  Or do you think there’s going to be confusion, which is what we’re seeing?  Most likely it’s going to seem like things are not going to change or get better, which is what we’re seeing…

Jeff   Notice how at the same time as the cabinet is ready to go to vote, which allows them to revalue, they quickly created a dinar vacuum to suck in the last remaining notes, implement misdirection, confusion and so forth.  Perfect timing to bring this all together and wrap this up within the next few weeks…

Mnt Goat  Remember we are dealing with Iraq and so things could change suddenly. There is also much more progress than what we read in the news. We don’t need a ‘perfect’ Iraq to have a reinstatement. Only to follow ‘the plan’ and get enough security and stability to attract investors to grow the economy. I firmly believe statements I hear from the IMF and the CBI that Iraq is to be the ‘financial center’ for the middle east… Do you see now why President Trump is paying so much attention to the country?
