Iraq’s Ministry of Transport has discussed the possible adoption of smart port technologies and advanced digital logistics solutions during meetings with Huawei and Uruk Engineering Services in China.
A ministry delegation participated in the Huawei Connect 2026 exhibition in Shanghai and also visited Tianjin Port to review its smart port systems and automated operational technologies firsthand.
During the meetings, officials held detailed discussions with Huawei’s transport sector specialists on digital transformation, logistics development, and ways to improve operational efficiency within Iraq’s maritime transport sector.
As a result of the discussions, it was agreed that a specialized Huawei team will visit Iraq’s Directorate of Maritime Transport and Ports to evaluate technical and operational needs and determine where modern technology solutions can be implemented.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize Iraq’s transport infrastructure and improve the efficiency of port operations through digital technologies and automation.
The visit to China was carried out under the direction of Transport Minister Wahab Salman Mohammed as the ministry continues to explore international partnerships and technological advancements for the country’s transport sector.
