The Iraqi government has taken another step toward tackling the housing shortage by signing four investment licenses to develop 60,000 residential plots in Karbala.
The project is part of a larger national plan to provide one million serviced residential plots across Iraq. The licenses were awarded to Al-Amniyat for Investment and Real Estate Development, Al-Mawj, Majd Al-Ula, and Al-Miqdaam.
The announcement was made by National Investment Commission Chairman Adel Dakhil Muhammad Al-Yasiri on Wednesday.
Karbala has been chosen as the first province to benefit from the initiative. The project will be carried out in cooperation with the Karbala Governorate and the provincial investment authority.
According to the National Investment Commission, it will closely monitor the implementation process and coordinate with both government agencies and private companies to ensure the project moves forward as planned.
The initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to expand housing opportunities, improve infrastructure, and provide serviced residential land for citizens across the country.
