Iraq’s Ministry of Finance announced on Wednesday that the government has suspended the implementation of the advance customs duty payment system.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, the decision comes following Cabinet Resolution No. 544, approved during the Council of Ministers meeting held on October 6, 2026.
The statement also confirmed that the government has amended the official exchange rate of the U.S. dollar against the Iraqi dinar, setting it at 1,500 dinars per dollar.
In addition, the Cabinet decided to suspend the implementation of Resolution No. 413 of 2026, which was related to the advance payment of customs duties.
The Ministry of Finance did not provide further details regarding the duration of the suspension or whether a new mechanism for customs duty collection will be introduced in the future.
The decisions are part of the government’s ongoing efforts to manage financial and economic policies amid current market and fiscal conditions.
