MP Qaisar al-Jurani of the Sadiqun parliamentary bloc said on Monday that the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) law is still with the government and has not yet been sent to Parliament.
Al-Jurani said Prime Minister Ali Abdullah Saleh had promised to submit the bill to Parliament for discussion, review and a vote.
He stressed that the law is important to many people and said passing it would be a way to recognize the sacrifices made by PMF members who lost their lives defending Iraq.
Al-Jurani added that the Sadiqun bloc supports the law and is waiting for the government to send it to Parliament.
He also noted that political blocs are expected to make changes to the bill, including adding some provisions and removing others.
Parliament is still waiting to receive the legislation before it can review the proposed amendments and move forward with its approval.
