Iraq plans to promote Dulmaj Marsh, also known as Hor Al-Dalmaj, as a major investment opportunity covering Wasit and Diwaniyah provinces.

The National Investment Commission (NIC), working with the investment authorities in both provinces, aims to develop a package of projects that will support the local economy and attract investors to the wetland area.

NIC head Adel Dakhil Muhammad al-Yasiri chaired a meeting attended by NIC deputy head Salar Muhammad Amin and Diwaniyah Investment Commission head Dr. Abdul-Razzaq Shubr. They discussed how to present the project to potential investors.

Officials said most of the required regulatory approvals have been completed and field visits to the site have already taken place.

The proposed investment package could include tourism facilities, fish farming, economic zones, dairy processing plants and other business activities.

Authorities are also preparing a shared database containing technical details and environmental information about the site. The platform is intended to help potential investors understand the opportunity and assess possible projects.

The initiative aims to turn Dulmaj Marsh into a development hub while creating new business opportunities across Wasit and Diwaniyah provinces.
