Iraqi Negotiating Committee with America Stresses Transferring the Military Relationship to an Economic Partnership

The Supreme Coordination Committee for the Strategic Framework Agreement for Friendship and Cooperation with the United States of America emphasized the necessity of shifting the relationship with Washington’s attention away from military matters and toward an economic partnership.

According to a statement that the committee provided to dinaropinions.com, this took place during the regular meeting of the committee today, Sunday, which was presided over by Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein and included all of the representatives of the subcommittees that make up the Supreme Committee.

The following was stated in the statement: “During the meeting, the latest developments in bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States of America were discussed, in addition to reviewing the achievements approved during the last meetings between the two parties in Washington, DC in the middle of April.” Within the agreed-upon axes, which include cooperation in the fields of politics and diplomacy, security and defense, energy, economy, education, health, and the environment, were also discussed the future working papers that will be discussed during the committee’s upcoming February meetings.

The Foreign Minister emphasized how crucial it was to turn the relationship with the United States of America into a solid economic partnership by putting the terms of the agreement into practice. He also emphasized the importance of expanding cooperation to include economic, health, educational, and other fields rather than just military and security issues.
