The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has announced major progress in upgrading the region’s water infrastructure.
So far, the government has completed nine dams at a total cost of about 266 billion Iraqi dinars (roughly $203 million). These dams now provide a combined storage capacity of around 253 million cubic meters of water, helping to secure water supplies for communities, farming, and industry across the region.
In addition to the dams, the KRG has built 23 water ponds, and construction is currently underway on 58 more.
Officials say these projects are part of a long-term plan to improve water management, reduce shortages, and support sustainable development in Kurdistan.
