Member of Parliament Mohammed Al-Ziyadi said on Saturday that the results of Iraq’s special voting will strongly indicate how the general election will turn out for the country’s main political forces. He also expects record-high voter participation this time compared to past elections.
Speaking to dinaropinions.com, Al-Ziyadi explained that those taking part in the special voting — including security forces and other eligible groups — represent a broad mix of Iraqi society. Because of that, he believes their votes will offer a clear picture of what to expect when the general elections take place in two days.
Al-Ziyadi added that security conditions across the provinces are stable, and that strict regulations are in place to prevent any outside influence or pressure on voters. This, he said, has helped create a fair and safe voting environment, one that encourages more people to take part.
He predicted that the voter turnout will be the highest in years, reflecting growing public interest in shaping the next government.
It’s worth noting that tomorrow, Sunday, November 9, marks the start of the special voting process across all of Iraq’s governorates. This vote will help elect members of the House of Representatives for its sixth session.
