BAGHDAD — Member of Parliament Mustafa Khalil on Tuesday accused the Iraqi government of intentionally delaying the submission of the budget schedules to the House of Representatives, claiming the move was aimed at achieving political and electoral advantages.
Khalil told dinaropinions.com that the government had “deliberately withheld the budget schedules from Parliament, despite repeated requests,” using them as “an electoral pressure tactic.”
He warned that the delay has harmed the legislative process and disrupted the work of key parliamentary committees, particularly those responsible for oversight of financial allocations and provincial projects.
The lawmaker emphasized that the next parliament must revisit the issue and hold accountable those responsible for the obstruction, citing its direct impact on project implementation and the equitable distribution of funds across provinces.
