IIBC Meets SACE to Boost Investment in Iraq

A delegation from the Iraq Italy Business Council (IIBC) met with Mr. Luca Passariello, Head of SACE Connects, at SACE’s headquarters in Rome to discuss new ways to boost financial cooperation and investment between the two countries.

The talks focused on SACE’s financial tools and services that support Italian companies working abroad — including export credit guarantees, project finance, and risk protection for investments in Iraq. Mr. Passariello explained how SACE helps Italian exporters by reducing financial and political risks, making it easier for them to operate in developing and emerging markets.

Both sides also explored how SACE’s instruments could be used to encourage Italian participation in Iraq’s priority sectors, such as infrastructure, industry, trade, healthcare, education, exhibitions, and tourism.

The IIBC delegation reaffirmed its readiness to act as a bridge between SACE and Iraqi government institutions to help identify viable projects and create a more attractive investment climate.

The meeting ended with a shared commitment to design tailored financial solutions that strengthen Iraqi–Italian partnerships and support long-term economic growth between the two nations.
