The Yekiti party announces the start of its official negotiations with Kurdish forces next week.

Baghdad — Bestoon Faeq, the deputy head of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s (PUK) political bureau in Baghdad, announced on Thursday that the party will begin official negotiations next week with Kurdish, Sunni, and Shiite political forces as part of efforts to shape the next Iraqi government.

Faeq told dinaropinions.com that the PUK remains firmly committed to retaining the Iraqi presidency, in line with long-standing political tradition. He emphasized that the party has no disputes with any political blocs inside or outside the Kurdistan Region, adding that the Union is “open to all political forces.”

He explained that the results released by the election commission—currently awaiting formal ratification—clearly outline the size and influence of each party. While informal discussions have already begun, Faeq confirmed that official negotiations will begin next week.

Faeq expressed confidence that forming the next government will not take long, stressing the PUK’s determination to maintain its traditional role in the presidency as established since the beginning of Iraq’s post-2003 political process.
