Former MP Amir Al-Maamouri said on Sunday that keeping the current salary scale — without any real changes — has pushed many employees to look for transfers to the Oil and Electricity Ministries.

Al-Maamouri told dinaropinions.com that there is a “real and urgent need” to update the salary scale, but this can only happen if all political parties finally agree to support it.

He explained that fixing the salary scale would bring more fairness and balance between different groups of employees. “We can’t keep going with the current system,” he said. “It’s unfair and it doesn’t give employees the justice they deserve.”

According to Al-Maamouri, employees are still left in the dark. They don’t know if the government plans to change the salary scale or keep things the same, especially since the executive branch has made no move toward reform in recent months.

He also pointed out that the lack of salary adjustments has made some ministries difficult places to work. Because of this, many employees are trying to transfer to the Oil Ministry, the Electricity Ministry, and other ministries with larger budgets and better financial conditions.
