A smuggling operation involving oxidized gas was thwarted at factories east of Baghdad.

On Saturday, Baghdad police seized a tanker truck carrying oxidized kerosene that was being smuggled for sale on the black market in the Al-Ma’amel area.

The Police Command said units from the Al-Nahrawan Police Station, along with emergency patrols, stopped the operation after receiving precise intelligence about the smuggling. “Some individuals were using forged documents to move and sell oxidized kerosene illegally,” the statement explained.

Acting on this information, police set up a well-planned ambush on a public street. The operation led to the seizure of the tanker truck and its contents.

The driver was arrested and, along with the confiscated kerosene, was handed over to the police station for further investigation.

Police emphasized that such actions are part of ongoing efforts to crack down on black market fuel sales and protect public safety.
