Iraq’s trade with Kuwait jumped sharply in 2024, rising by nearly 116% compared to 2023, according to Trade Minister Atheer Dawood Al-Ghariri.
The minister said the increase was mainly driven by higher Iraqi imports from Kuwait. He explained that this growth reflects stronger demand inside Iraq and the expanding role of the Kuwaiti market in supplying Iraqi needs.
Vehicles, transport equipment, and spare parts made up the largest share of imports. These were followed by food items, as well as construction materials, electrical goods, and electronic equipment.
On the export side, Al-Ghariri noted that Iraqi exports also showed positive results, especially food products. He said this improvement highlights the ministry’s efforts to support local production and help Iraqi goods reach nearby regional markets.
Overall, the surge in trade shows growing economic ties between Iraq and Kuwait and stronger movement of goods in both directions.
