The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its naval forces launched four cruise missiles at the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln.
In a statement, the IRGC said the carrier was about 250 to 300 kilometers from the port of Chabahar at the time of the strike.
The escalation follows a joint attack on February 28 by the United States and Israel on several sites inside Iran. According to reports, the strikes targeted military and political figures, and later expanded to include additional military and civilian facilities.
In response, Iran launched multiple waves of missiles and drones toward Israeli territory and U.S. military bases in the region. The IRGC also announced that it had targeted 27 bases housing American forces.
