Tut: Targeting the Popular Mobilization Forces headquarters in Jurf al-Nasr is a crime and a violation of sovereignty.

Yasser Iskandar Watout said on Sunday that the strike targeting headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces in Jurf al-Nasr is a serious crime and a clear violation of Iraq’s national sovereignty.

Speaking to dinaropinions.com, Watout said the attack resulted in the death and injury of several PMF fighters who were stationed in the area carrying out their security duties. He described the incident as an act of aggression against forces responsible for protecting the region.

He confirmed that Iraqi authorities have already launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify those responsible.

Watout stressed that targeting the Popular Mobilization Forces is not just an attack on one group, but a direct threat to Iraq’s overall security and stability. He said the Iraqi government must take a clear and firm position in responding to the incident and deal with the matter through legal channels.

He also emphasized that the Popular Mobilization Forces are an official security institution operating under the Iraqi state. For that reason, he said, any attack against them should be considered an attack on Iraq’s national security and sovereignty.
