Iraq has reviewed progress on the Kirkuk oil field development project, with officials focusing on boosting production and improving long-term energy infrastructure.

The project, being developed with BP, covers four major fields in Kirkuk province — Bai Hassan, Jambur, Kirkuk, and Khabbaz.

During a joint management committee meeting, officials discussed ongoing work, approved the operational management structure, and made decisions related to budget and safety measures.

A major focus was increasing oil and associated gas production while reducing gas flaring, part of broader efforts to improve resource use and meet environmental standards.

The project is being carried out through cooperation between North Oil Company, North Gas Company, and BP, alongside support from technical and legal teams in the Oil Ministry.

Officials say the development is expected to speed up activity across the fields, support jobs in Kirkuk, and help local economic growth.

The ministry also highlighted training programs and international study initiatives aimed at building Iraqi expertise and strengthening the national workforce.

In simple terms, the project is moving forward as Iraq works to expand production, cut flaring, and build stronger energy capacity for the future.
