A Kurdish MP reveals understandings to resolve the oil crisis between Baghdad and Erbil

Sarwa Muhammad Rashid, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan’s representative, reaffirmed on Wednesday that there is great sincerity and understanding to resolve the unresolved issues between the region and the center.

“There is a tendency to solve all the outstanding problems between Baghdad and Erbil, especially the salaries file,” said Rashid in an interview.

She said, “According to the constitution and the political document signed between the parties of the State Administration Alliance, the consultations were very positive and we reached a large degree of understanding to end all differences during the next stage.”

She said that “the differences were over the issue of the region’s share in the budget, as well as the approval of important laws such as the Oil and Gas Law, the Federal Court, and salary entitlements for the region’s employees.”

The Kurdish delegation in Baghdad was informed by the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s Sharif Suleiman that the region’s employees would receive monthly salaries. Suleiman noted that changing fundamental budgetary items is necessary to address the issue of employee salaries in the region.
