Former MP Razzaq al-Haidari has accused the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) of failing to meet its constitutional obligations toward the federal government, calling for decisive action to resolve ongoing disputes between Baghdad and Erbil.
Speaking to dinaropinions.com, al-Haidari said the KRG has, for years, ignored several constitutional provisions related to its responsibilities and commitments to the federal government.
He stated that major disagreements still exist between Baghdad and Erbil on a range of financial and administrative issues, adding that these disputes need serious solutions that ensure the constitution is fully implemented and that the rights of all sides are protected.
Al-Haidari called on Prime Minister Ali Mohsen al-Ahmad to take a firm position on the matter and ensure that the Kurdistan Regional Government fulfills all of its legal and constitutional obligations.
He stressed that strong and stable relations between Baghdad and Erbil can only be achieved through respect for the constitution and adherence to agreements already signed between both sides.
According to al-Haidari, resolving these disputes is important for protecting national interests, strengthening cooperation between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region, and preserving the unity and stability of Iraq.
