MP Mohammed al-Hassnawi of the Rights Movement confirmed that his movement remains committed to passing the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) law in parliament, despite what he described as attempts to turn the issue into a political bargaining tool.
Al-Hassnawi said there are efforts to delay the approval of the PMF law, even though the PMF played a major role in defending Iraq and fighting terrorism. He stressed that the sacrifices made by PMF members should not be ignored and that their contributions to the country’s security deserve recognition.
He added that there are attempts to weaken the PMF and replace its leaders, something the Rights Movement firmly rejects. According to him, the PMF gained an important position in Iraq following the religious edict that led to its formation and played a key role in the fight against terrorism.
Al-Hassnawi explained that his movement is working to ensure the passage of the PMF law in order to protect the rights of martyrs’ families and preserve the dignity and rights of PMF members. He emphasized that approving the law should not be viewed as a favor or a gift, but as a rightful step to recognize the sacrifices and service of those who were part of the organization.
