Sheikh Haider Al-Lami, a leader in the State of Law Coalition, said on Saturday that the only real way to bring change in Iraq is through elections, not through dictatorial actions or force. He also emphasized how important it is for everyone to take part in the upcoming vote next month.
Speaking to dinaropinions.com, Al-Lami explained, “Elections are the strongest and most effective tool to protect Iraq from foreign control and interference. The Coordination Framework is focused on ensuring stability through the democratic process.”
He went on to say that real change will only happen when Iraqis go to the ballot boxes and choose who they believe can best serve the country. “No political group should be pushed aside or removed by force,” he said. “Elections are the fair and legitimate way to bring about change.”
Al-Lami also warned about the growing external influence on Iraq’s internal affairs, pointing specifically to the United States and Turkey. He said these pressures make it even more necessary to hold transparent elections that allow the Iraqi people—not outside powers—to decide the nation’s future.
