Al Moussawi calls on the incoming government to review the security agreement with Washington and end hegemony.

MP Hamid al-Moussawi called on the prime minister-designate to take steps he says would strengthen Iraq’s sovereignty, including expanding international agreements and partnerships.

Al-Moussawi said the next government should review the security agreement with Washington and address what he described as repeated violations of Iraqi sovereignty.

He argued that relying too heavily on one partner has hurt Iraq’s broader interests and said expanding ties with other countries could strengthen independent decision-making.

According to him, wider international cooperation would help Iraq reduce outside influence and reinforce national sovereignty.

His remarks come amid growing political debate over Iraq’s foreign relations and calls to revisit the security framework with the United States.
