Binance has announced that it will support the rebranding of Toncoin (TON) to Gram (GRAM), making the transition automatic for users on the exchange.
Under the plan, Binance will convert TON tokens to GRAM at a 1:1 ratio. Users will not need to take any action, as the exchange will handle the entire process and transfer eligible balances to the new ticker automatically.
The move brings back the Gram name, which was originally used in Telegram’s early blockchain project. While the token ticker will change from TON to GRAM, the blockchain network itself will continue to be known as The Open Network (TON).
As part of the transition, Binance will gradually remove all existing TON trading pairs. Spot trading for TON pairs will officially end at 03:00 UTC on June 30. Affected trading pairs include TON/USDT, TON/USDC, TON/FDUSD, TON/TRY, TON/IDR, TON/U, and TON/USD1.
Any open orders for these pairs will be automatically canceled once trading stops.
Trading for the new GRAM pairs will begin on July 2 at 08:00 UTC. Binance plans to launch GRAM/USDT, GRAM/USDC, GRAM/FDUSD, GRAM/TRY, GRAM/IDR, GRAM/U, and GRAM/USD1.
TON deposits and withdrawals will be suspended on June 30, while GRAM deposits and withdrawals are expected to open on July 2. After the transition is completed, Binance will no longer support TON deposits or withdrawals.
The changes will also affect several other Binance products and services.
Binance Futures will close and settle all TONUSDT perpetual futures contracts on June 23. Users will not be able to open new positions shortly before the settlement takes place.
Margin trading, crypto loans, Simple Earn, Dual Investment, Binance Pay, Gift Cards, Convert, and Buy & Sell Crypto services that support TON will also be updated or discontinued according to separate timelines throughout June.
For users holding TON in Simple Earn products, Binance will automatically redeem their positions and, where possible, move them into equivalent GRAM products after the conversion is completed.
The rebrand has attracted significant attention from the crypto community, partly because it reconnects the token with Telegram’s original vision for the project. Telegram founder Pavel Durov recently stated that Gram was the original name used in TON’s first white paper and explained that the rebrand does not require a blockchain-level token swap.
The announcement has also helped keep interest in the project high. Toncoin recently experienced increased trading activity as investors reacted to the rebranding news and its connection to Telegram.
For most Binance users, the process should be straightforward since the exchange will manage the token conversion automatically. However, traders using futures, margin, loans, and other Binance services should review the upcoming deadlines carefully and make any necessary adjustments before the transition dates arrive.
