The Banking Studies Centre at the Central Bank of Iraq has launched a new training course to help bank employees spot fake money — both Iraqi and foreign currencies.

The course brings together staff from government banks, private banks, and other financial institutions. Trainers walk participants through real examples, showing them how genuine notes look and feel, what security features to look for, and how to compare real bills with counterfeit ones. They also cover practical steps that employees can use every day to prevent fake currency from slipping into the system.

The centre says this program is part of its ongoing effort to build stronger skills inside the banking sector and protect Iraq’s financial system. The goal is simple: make sure bank staff are well-trained, confident, and ready to keep the country’s money safe.
