Coinbase is expanding its operations in Singapore with a new office and plans to increase its local workforce by about one-third over the next 18 months.

The crypto exchange officially opened its new office at One Raffles Quay on July 22 and expects to grow its Singapore team from around 150 employees to approximately 200 by the end of 2026.

According to Singapore Country Director Hassan Ahmed, hiring will focus on key areas including engineering, customer service, relationship management, and institutional sales.

Ahmed said Singapore remains one of Coinbase’s fastest-growing international markets and continues to play an important role in the company’s long-term strategy across the Asia-Pacific region.

The expansion comes despite Coinbase announcing global workforce reductions earlier this year. While the company cut jobs in some areas as part of a broader restructuring effort, it continues to invest in markets where it sees strong long-term growth opportunities.

Coinbase believes Singapore’s clear regulations, business-friendly environment, and strong financial ecosystem make it an attractive location for crypto and blockchain companies. The exchange has worked closely with local regulators over the years and received its full operating license in Singapore in 2023.

The company has continued to deepen its presence in the country through investments in engineering talent, blockchain infrastructure, and digital payment solutions. It has also supported local stablecoin initiatives and expanded services for businesses and institutional clients.

Ahmed noted that interest in digital assets, stablecoins, and tokenized real-world assets continues to grow among institutional investors. He added that more governments and regulators around the world are introducing frameworks that support the development of digital asset markets.

Coinbase is also increasing its focus on artificial intelligence. The company is exploring ways AI and blockchain technology can work together, including the use of stablecoin-powered AI agents and blockchain-based records to improve transparency.

According to Ahmed, the combination of AI and digital assets could create new opportunities for innovation, and Coinbase plans to remain active in both areas as the industry evolves.

The expansion highlights Coinbase’s confidence in Singapore as a key hub for crypto, blockchain innovation, and future growth in Asia.
