Coinbase has announced that it will suspend trading of Badger DAO (BADGER) and Storj (STORJ) on Sept. 28, 2026, following a routine review of assets listed on the exchange.
The suspension is expected to take effect at around 2:00 p.m. ET and will apply across Coinbase.com, Advanced Trade, Coinbase Exchange, and Coinbase Prime.
According to Coinbase, the decision was made as part of its ongoing process of evaluating whether listed assets continue to meet the platform’s standards. However, the company did not specify the exact reasons behind the move or identify any particular issues with either project.
Ahead of the suspension, Coinbase has already placed both BADGER and STORJ into limit-only mode. This means users can still place and cancel limit orders, and trades may continue to execute if matching orders are available. Market orders are no longer supported for the two tokens.
Once the Sept. 28 deadline arrives, customers will no longer be able to buy or sell BADGER or STORJ through Coinbase’s trading platforms.
Importantly, the trading suspension does not affect users’ ownership of the tokens. Coinbase confirmed that customers will continue to have access to their balances and will still be able to withdraw both assets after trading ends.
The exchange has not announced any deadline for withdrawals, nor has it revealed plans to automatically convert remaining holdings into another cryptocurrency or stablecoin.
BADGER is the governance token of Badger DAO, a decentralized finance project focused on bringing Bitcoin-related assets into the DeFi ecosystem. STORJ is the utility token used within the Storj decentralized cloud storage network.
The removal of trading support on Coinbase could reduce liquidity and accessibility for users who rely on the exchange. However, both tokens may continue to trade on other centralized and decentralized platforms, depending on regional regulations and individual exchange policies.
Market reaction has been mixed so far. BADGER was trading near $0.37 on Aug. 30, down roughly 4% over the previous 24 hours. STORJ traded around $0.074 during the same period, showing less noticeable price movement.
While delistings from major exchanges can sometimes affect trading volume and liquidity, there is not enough evidence to directly link the recent price changes solely to Coinbase’s announcement.
BADGER and STORJ are not the only assets facing removal from Coinbase this month. The exchange previously announced that trading for IoTeX will be suspended on Sept. 23. Earlier in August, Coinbase also removed support for IDEX, LRC, OMNI, PIRATE, and FIS, while continuing to allow withdrawals for affected users.
For holders of BADGER and STORJ, the key date is Sept. 28. Trading will remain available in limit-only mode until then, after which buying and selling on Coinbase will stop, while withdrawals are expected to remain open unless the company announces further changes.
