Coinbase and Flipcash have launched a new stablecoin called USDF on the Solana blockchain, as Coinbase continues expanding its stablecoin infrastructure business.

Coinbase announced that USDF was created through its Custom Stablecoin platform and is fully backed 1:1 by USD Coin, also known as USDC.

Flipcash plans to use USDF inside its app, where users can create fixed-supply digital currencies. The stablecoin will act as the main settlement and pricing asset for buying, selling, and using those user-created currencies.

Coinbase said its Custom Stablecoins platform is designed to help businesses launch branded digital dollars without needing to build their own blockchain infrastructure, reserve systems, or settlement tools from scratch.

The company manages areas such as token issuance, reserve backing, smart contracts, on-chain operations, and redemption systems. Coinbase says the stablecoins issued through the platform can always be redeemed 1:1 for USDC.

Ted Livingston said Flipcash chose Coinbase because the company provided the reserve management, on-chain settlement, fiat access, and scalable infrastructure needed for the app’s consumer-focused experience.

The launch highlights Coinbase’s growing push into stablecoin payments and settlement services. The company has recently expanded USDC-related infrastructure for businesses, including cross-border payment systems and branded stablecoin services.

The move also reflects growing competition in the stablecoin sector, where companies are increasingly offering white-label tools that allow businesses to launch their own branded digital dollar products while relying on larger providers for compliance, custody, and liquidity management.

For Flipcash, USDF provides a stable dollar-based unit for its app ecosystem. For Coinbase, the launch adds another example of how the company is positioning itself as a major infrastructure provider for stablecoin payments, settlements, and digital finance services.
