CoinMarketCap has warned crypto users that it has not launched any official token or coin, urging people to ignore any promotions claiming otherwise.
The company said any advertisements, social media posts, or messages promoting a so-called “CMC Token” should be treated as fake and potentially part of a scam.
CoinMarketCap issued a clear statement saying it does not have any official cryptocurrency and that all claims about a CoinMarketCap token are false.
The warning comes as scammers continue using the names of trusted crypto companies to trick users and steal funds or personal information. Fake token launches are often designed to create urgency and attract investors before disappearing with users’ money.
CoinMarketCap also warned users about impersonators pretending to work for the company. It said the platform does not have a public phone number and will never call users directly. The company advised people to contact official support channels whenever they have doubts or security concerns.
The platform has previously reported cases involving fake employees, fake listing offers, suspicious video calls, and scam emails using company branding to appear legitimate.
Similar scams have affected other major crypto platforms in recent months. Fraudsters have used fake websites, phishing emails, and social media impersonation to target users of wallets and exchanges across the crypto industry.
The latest warning serves as another reminder for users to verify links carefully, avoid unknown token offers, and never trust anyone claiming that CoinMarketCap has launched an official coin.
